Kellie Castle. Dating from the fourteenth century, now restored contains beautiful plaster ceilings and painted panelling. Victorian gardens.  5th Earl of Kellie hid in the garden in a burnt-out tree stump for an entire summer after the Battle of Culloden in 1746.

St Fillan's Cave. The Celtic saint and preacher stayed here - later used by monks and smugglers (but not at the same time!). It is now a place of pilgrimage.

Memorial to George Wishart in St Andrews, 1513-1546. Powerful Protestant preacher betrayed by Cardinal Beaton and burnt at the stake. His friends subsequently killed Beaton and together created the first Congregation of the Protestant Church in Scotland.
